Purpose, mission and values are a great way of expressing intentions and expectations.
But there are lots of reasons why they don’t come to fruition in the ways we might expect.
Scepticism about their authenticity, realism or integrity is one. Another is poor timing or a failure to adapt to changing external or internal forces. A third is practices, policies or procedures set by the organization that contradict the espoused values or purpose. The most common is simply a lack of connection or relevance to the daily leadership of people, so the trigger to ‘practice’ just doesn’t show up.
All of these can create dissonance or disengagement from the organization and it’s leaders.
We support organizations to action their purpose, mission and values. Rather than expecting values and purpose to automatically ‘on’, we help leaders to role model and embed them through targeted practice and critical moments. We believe that establishing a culture playbook; with prioritised leadership and team moments can trigger best practice and make it conscious for everyone.
